This is the best time to promote the SUMBA project in the Baltic Sea Region. Autumn opens the conference season and the first project results will be shortly available online. That is why we decided to present as well as promote the SUMBA project both in the Baltic Sea Region and in Poland:
- 5th September, Elblag: Interconnect project (Interreg South Baltic) conference: “Efficient integration of public transport services”,
- 12th September, Ilawa, Euroregion Baltic Board meeting and Youth Board meeting.
Both events provided good opportunities to tell a few words about the SUMBA project to those interested in sustainable mobility issues in the Baltic Sea Region. Participants asked about the SUMBA tools useful for mobility planning. In particular, everybody was looking forward to the “Guidance for modelling and data collection”. Evidently, a serious knowledge gap seems to exist in this area.
On September 24th a SUMP workshop took place in the Polish Ministry of Investment and Economic Development in Warsaw. The event was organised by the Polish Government together with the JASPERS Regional Office in Warsaw as part of a project focused on the development or update of the SUMPs for the Polish towns and cities. It was a good possibility to promote SUMBA among mobility planners from all over Poland. They were informed that the SUMBA tools could be used for the SUMP development process.
SUMBA project was also presented at the annual CIVITAS Forum, one of Europe's top sustainable urban mobility events and annually gathers the leading figures in the field. Together with two other Interreg BSR’s projects running since 2017 under priority 3 ‘Sustainable transport’ – BSR Electric and cities.multimodal – representative of the SUMBA project shared information about SUMBA's results and future deliverables at the shared booth.
